Looking to grab some new apps and games for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? Well now would be a great time to do so. Rumors around the web are surfacing that Apple is giving away free games and apps to celebrate the Apple App Store’s 5th anniversary. Although Apple has not made an official announcement yet on the free games and apps, it was reported earlier from the folks at “The Verge” that many top tier games and apps are now completely free. There is no word on how long this deal will last or even when it will officially kick off. So your best bet is to grab as many of these free titles as soon as you can before they magically disappear or go back to full price. July 10th will mark the 5th year of the App Store, and Apple may make some sort of announcement or issue a press release with a complete list of apps and games then. Apple did send out a poster last month claiming that the App Store has reached the 50 billion download milestone. On average Apple estimates they get a bout 2 billion downloads each month. Android on the other hand is seeing a bit more than that as they average about 2.5 billion downloads each month. Analyst project that Android downloads will surpass iOS downloads by October so we may see some type of Android discount/promotion then as well (hopefully). This Apple promotion could well be a way of the Cupertino giants hitting back at Android or they are just giving back some love as they celebrate the 5th anniversary of their beloved App store.
