The All New Gold HTC One 2 Press Image Leaks

Famed device leaker EVleaks has done it again! This time he delivers press image leaks of the all new gold HTC One 2 (M8).

The somewhat notorious device leaker, EVleaks, is back with another leak from HTC. This morning, @EVleaks shared a photo of ehe “all new” gold HTC One 2 (M8). Some say this is an official press render of the device.

If this leak is true, the earlier rumors pointing to the device sporting two rear cameras may prove to be true. The camera also sports a dual LED flash on the lower camera, which also lines up with previous rumors. Although we have heard about the device sporting two functional rear camera’s, we are yet to see any documentation on what these lenses will do. Could it be for 3D? HTC has already had one unsuccessful crack at 3D with the HTC EVO 3D back in 2011.

Outside of the new dual-camera feature, the device looks like it will stick with what worked on the first generation HTC One. The solid, sleek metal design brings only minor cosmetic changes that will be either loved or hated by fans of the brand. The dual boom speakers and front grill are still there, as well as that pointless bottom black screen border that just holds the HTC logo. If this bar acts as a fingerprint scanner or some other hardware feature, it ill be a welcome addition.

As for the rest of the design elements, its obvious that the gold color is intended to make an already premium device even more extravagant. The new gold HTC One 2 should also come in both silver and black color options like we saw last year. Fans of the original HTC One may notice that the corners on the leaked device look more rounded than on last years’ model. Some users may like this, but personally it makes the device look a bit antiquated to me. I think the new trend is leaning towards a larger bezel-to-bezel display, with a more flattened square form factor, like the Sony Xperia Z1 or the Huawei Ascend P6.

Love it or hate it, this is still technically a leak, and may not represent the final product. Sony, Samsung and LG unveiling their new flagship devices at Mobile World Congress last week, HTC will have to come out firing on all cylinders with the M8. The Taiwanese former giant will have one month to assess the competition as the new HTC One 2 (M8) is expected to be unveiled at an event in New York City on March 25th. Stay tuned to The Horn for all the details on the highly anticipated HTC One 2 come next month.
