Rumors about the new Samsung Galaxy F “S5 Prime” premium smartphone have been swirling, and recent photos showing the purported device with a metal finish has added fuel to the fire. The leaked photos show a brushed aluminum back, similar to that of the LG G3. While the G3 features a plastic shell that simply gives the illusion of brushed metal, this new model from Samsung is rumored to actually feature a real aluminum casing. NDTV reports that this new design offering will be available in both a black and white variant.
A New Premium Device
Though the Samsung Galaxy F “S5 Prime” has yet to be officially announced, little bits of information about the device have been leaking out over the past few weeks, including some impressive tech specs. According to information gathered by SlashGear, this new premium Galaxy device will sport a 5.3 inch Quad HD (or “QHD”) screen with a 2560×1440 resolution, all powered by a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3 GB of RAM. A 16 megapixel rear camera has also been rumored for this premium smartphone.
New Design Choices?
In addition to the rumored brushed metal finish—which would be a first for a Samsung device—the Galaxy F could have some other distinctive design choices. Judging by recently leaked images, the top part of the handset will be rounder than the bottom, creating an uneven design that could be a bit easier to grip. The bezels around the screen of this device will also be a bit thinner, highlighting the device’s more stark design.
These new design choices should help the so-called “S5 Prime” stand out from the ever-increasing number of Android smartphones crowding the market. If this new design proves to be popular, it could trigger a redesign of the entire Galaxy line of phones, which would certainly be an interesting development.
