The new iPhone 5C from Apple has finally arrived at my desk on Friday, just as promised. I thought I would give a proper iPhone 5C unboxing to all our readers here on The Horn. If you are not too familiar with “unboxing videos”, they are basically a first look at any device coming out of its packaging for the very first time. I will also break down some of the key features and the overall design and durability, as I guide you through this sleek iPhone 5C unboxing/mini review.
iPhone 5C Build and Design:
Apple has elected to build the iPhone 5C from polycarbonate (plastic), over the all-metal finish in last year’s iPhone 5. At first glance you would think that this could make it feel cheap or unattractive. All I can tell you is that this is by far nicest plastic phone I have ever put my hands on. The 5C is very comfortable in the hand, and is built like a solid plastic tank. It has absolutely zero bends or creeks in the plastic, and feels extremely durable.
iPhone 5C Pricing:
The iPhone 5C starts as $99 on a 2-year contract for the 16GB model. The 32GB model will cost you $199 with a 2-year contract. If you just want to grab the phone contract free, it will run you $549 and $649 respectively. This high price tag makes the new low-cost iPhone 5C expensive.
iPhone 5C Availability:
The iPhone 5C is available at all four major US carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile), as well as number of online retailers. The easiest way to order is directly through Apple‘s website, or through their Apple Store App.
