It finally looks like we have a solid date for the arrival of the upcoming iPad’s from Apple. According to the highly accurate AllThingsD, Apple will hold a media event on October 22nd where it is expected to unveil a redesigned fifth-generation iPad, as well as a second-generation iPad mini. Although the new tablets will take center stage at the iPad event, Apple is also set to show off the finalized Mac Pro desktop and OS X Mavericks.
Recent iPad rumors point to the new 5th generation iPad sporting an iPad mini type design. This translates to a lighter, thinner and sexier full sized iPad coming our way next month. In terms of features, rumors also point the tablet adopting many of the specs found on the current iPhone 5S. The iPad 5 could sport a 64-bit A7 processor, Touch ID and 8MP camera come launch day.
This iPad event will also hopefully bring an update to the iPad mini which is highly rumored to be delayed. The burning question on the iPad mini still remains however, will it get a retina display? My best bet is yes, but with limited supply during the intial launch phase.
With the date set for the 22nd of October, AllThingsD was still not able to confirm the actual location of the event. Possible choices include Apple’s Cupertino campus, or the classic Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Last year’s iPad event was held in San Jose, but Apple claims they do not plan to return this time around. Stay tuned to The Horn tomorrow as we wrap up all the latest iPad rumors surrounding the event and the pending hardware.
