Could HTC be entering the camera market? According to a new Bloomberg<\/a> report, it’s possible: “HTC Corp. is developing its first camera, a waterproof model for extreme sports, as it diversifies beyond smartphones amid three years of declining sales,” a source with knowledge of the company’s plans confirmed.<\/p>\n

HTC Waterproof Action Camera<\/strong><\/p>\n

An HTC camera would be the first such product from the Taiwan-based company. Bloomberg says the device will have an ultra wide-angle lens and capture images at 16 megapixels, and it will be waterproof and durable enough to potentially challenge GoPro’s hold on the market. The new HTC camera will be able to connect via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to both Android and iOS devices to offer a variety of features. A companion app could also be released for both iOS and Android for added functionality.<\/p>\n

HTC Eye Smartphone for Selfies<\/strong><\/p>\n

HTC sent invites with the headline “Double Exposure” to members of the press for their event being held on October 8 in New York. As speculation mounts, several reports indicate the company will reveal its new smartphone, code-named “Eye,” which is said to be optimized for selfies. Some exact details of the HTC Eye are unclear, including whether it is an Android device or another Windows Phone entry.<\/p>\n

On September 13, @upleaks<\/a> tweeted “HTC EYE – 5.2″ FHD, S801” which is to say the upcoming HTC Eye smartphone will feature a large, 5.2-inch FHD display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. GSMArena<\/a> notes that the phone will include a 1080p display resolution with a pixel density of 423 ppi, an Adreno 330 GPU, and a quad-core Krait 400 CPU.<\/p>\n
