Get them while they’re hot! Samsung has revealed the Galaxy Note Edge is a “limited-edition concept device,” according to SamMobile<\/a>. This means the curved-screen handset will be produced and shipped in limited supply.<\/p>\n

Testing the Waters<\/strong><\/p>\n

The device is a “technology-intensive” piece of hardware, which will begin shipping to South Korea in late October, Samsung<\/a> President D.J. Lee revealed in a press conference. The company expects to ship one million units this year, and it is unknown when the device will hit other territories. SamMobile writes that it “will take time to reach other nations, with its release date to vary by country.”<\/p>\n

Galaxy Launch<\/strong> Analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is interesting to note that analysts had it both right and wrong about Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Edge devices. Two weeks ago, another SamMobile<\/a> article reported that analysts from Hyundai Securities, a South Korean brokerage, estimated that Samsung would push 11 million Galaxy Note 4 devices in 2014, while the Galaxy Note Edge would ship with only a tenth of those numbers. The Edge numbers are right on par with the recently announced one million devices, with SamMobile reporting that the manufacturing process for the Edge may be one reason for its limited production. The secondary curved screen is brand-new technology, and while it was well-received at IFA 2014 and the design and functionality are attractive, it remains unproven by consumers.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, anticipation for the Note 4 is extremely high with Samsung pushing up the release from October to last Friday, September 26. The South Korea\u2013based company now hopes to sell 15 million units of the Galaxy Note 4 within the first month, according to GMCArena<\/a>. This would be a significant increase from the originally predicted 11 million for 2014 as a whole.<\/p>\n
