Mark your calendars, stateside early adopters! The Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung’s eye-catching smash hit from this year’s IFA 2014, has received an official release date. According to SamMobile<\/a>, the unique phablet and its secondary curved display will be available from all major carriers on November 14. “The smartphone is going to be sold by AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular,” SamMobile reports.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous Won’t Come Cheap<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sharp, futuristic allure that makes the Note Edge so aesthetically pleasing will not come cheap to eager buyers. The device can be purchased off-contract and will retail for $945 from AT&T and $840 from Sprint. However, the device will likely come at a subsidized rate with a new two-year contract.<\/p>\n

‘Modern Fluidic’<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4 share similar DNA. Each features a QHD 2560 by 1440 display resolution, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3.7 megapixel front camera. Both come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat pre-installed. While much of the raw power and components are shared, it is the one-of-kind curved display that grabbed everyone’s attention at IFA 2014 in Berlin.<\/p>\n

Samsung calls the design style “Modern Fluidic.” The company recently revealed that the inspiration for that rounded form factor is simply “the curve of nature.” The concept of fluidity also extends to the functionality of the curved display, where the screen content matches and complements whatever application is currently running on the device at the time. Bonus: The screen still functions when rotated 180 degrees, “providing comfortable use for the left-handed [user]” as well.<\/p>\n
