Our Story

We’ve all been there. New shiny cell phone in one hand, used one in the other. At this moment, what do you do? Put it in the back of a desk drawer? Stuff it in a closet? Throw it away?

This conundrum baffled serial entrepreneur Rousseau Aurelien, just as much as it does many of us today so he set out to build a solution that would ultimately start a revolution in the way we consume electronics.

But before this revolution could get under way, Rousseau joined forces with co-founders Israel Ganot, an eBay and PayPal executive with expertise in building large-scale web-based businesses, and James McElhiney, a technologist with deep experience in building rich Internet applications.

Driven by powerful dynamics of a liquid secondary market, a nascent e-Waste recycling industry, and scalable web 2.0 technology, Rousseau, Israel, and James worked tirelessly as co-founders to launch Gazelle.

Today, Gazelle has grown to be the nation’s largest electronics reCommerce company, saving more than 100,000 gadgets each year. But this isn’t just about preventing e-Waste. This is about changing the way we all think about buying, owning, selling, and recycling. We are working, together with you, to bring about smarter consumption.
