Israel’s enthusiasm and passion for Gazelle is projected through actions and spread through the workspace, creating an environment where employees love to come to work everyday. He surrounds himself in the culture of Gazelle, and personally knows every member of our team, instilling the importance of each role. Israel co-founded Gazelle in 2006 after an attempted recycling effort turned pricey. His belief that individuals should be rewarded for recycling, and the realization that many electronics still hold value but yet are wasting away in landfills sparked the idea to build a business that would redefine the way we think about buying, owning, selling, and recycling electronics. He was named President and CEO of the company in 2008 and under his leadership, the company has rapidly emerged as the nation’s largest reCommerce service, accepting more than 30,000 electronic trade-ins per month. Israel attributes this success to the focus he places on making Gazelle a world-class brand not only through carefully measured metrics but also through the customer and employee experience. This focus has already attracted more than 100,000 customers and continues to entice more consumers to give Gazelle a try. Israel’s background includes more than 19 years in e-commerce and offline retail. He spent six years at eBay and PayPal, where he was instrumental in the company’s international expansion to Europe, Latin America and Asia. Israel also served as Director of Finance & Operations at eBay UK Ltd., helping to scale the local business to $300 million. He started his career as a retail analyst with Goldman Sachs and earned his BS at NYU’s Stern School and his MBA from Harvard University. For his accomplishments at Gazelle, Ernst & Young named Israel a 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, and he is frequently quoted as an e-Commerce and reCommerce expert in publications, including The Wall St. Journal, CNN, and Forbes. What a fantastic idea, and executed so well. The only way it could be easier for me is if you showed up at my door to take the equipment off my hands!
You guys are fabulous. You make it so easy every step of the way. Your online chat is quick and helpful. I would definitely use you again to sell my old electronics.
