Samsung Unveils Galaxy S4 Zoom

Samsung has just unveiled a true photographer’s dream phone with the new Galaxy S4 Zoom. The new Galaxy S4 Zoom brings all the best features from the original Galaxy S4, along with the camera power from the Samsung Galaxy Camera lineup. The S4 Zoom will feature a 16MP camera with 10x optical Zoom and xenon flash, for a true digital-camera-like experience. The lens on the S4 Zoom is a 24-240mm zoom, F3.1-F6.3, and features true optical image stabilization. In terms of phone specs, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with qHD 960x540p display resolution. The device will be slightly less powerful than a Galaxy S4 as it will run a 1.5GHz dual-core chip. The phone will also ship with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 64GB.

With the release of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, Samsung is most likely targeting users of the Xperia Z from Sony as well as the Lumia 925 and PureView models from Nokia. These phones have been getting high praise for their camera functionality, and Samsung is looking to step in by offering a true and complete camera-smartphone experience. The bulky weight and size of the device could prevent the average smartphone buyer from picking up the S4 Zoom over a standard or active (waterproof/dustproof) model Galaxy S4. The full details of the device along with other new Samsung devices should be revealed later this month in London at the Samsung “Premier Event”. Stay tuned!
