Apple to Reveal iWatch With iPhone 6

A breaking news story by Re/Code says that Apple will reveal the iWatch during its September 9 iPhone 6 event.

Apple will reveal a wearable device during its September 9 iPhone 6 event, a breaking news story by Re/Code says. Re/Code’s previously predicted an October unveiling. Reporter and longtime Apple-watcher John Paczkowski writes, “Apple now plans to unveil a new wearable alongside the two next-generation iPhones…”

The Apple iWatch, long awaited but still completely mysterious, will be Apple’s first wearable device outside of the iPod Nano 6th generation, which wasn’t technically a wearable but did sell for a short time with watch bands as accessories. It’s unknown what the iWatch will incorporate—or even if it will be a watch instead of some other kind of wearable.

HealthKit and HomeKit

Any wearable that Apple would unveil would likely comply with the recently revealed HealthKit, a new application that connects wearable devices and all data surrounding personal health into a single location on any iOS device. It would presumably also work with HomeKit, the “new framework for controlling connected devices,” according to Re/Code.

First High-Selling Smartwatch?

Apple may be late to market with a wearable, but it will be first with HealthKit, and perhaps more importantly, with a potentially high-selling smartwatch. Google Trends lists “iWatch” search volume as neck and neck with “smartwatch.” Considering the buzz that surrounds new Apple products, those results may show a drastic change upon the official announcement, so stay tuned on September 9.
