It Sold Out Within Hours! Here’s How to Grab a Moto 360 Smartwatch

If you were hoping to grab a Moto 360, that ship has unfortunately sailed for the time being, as the device sold out within hours of its release.

For those users hoping to grab a Moto 360, Motorola’s new smartwatch, that ship has unfortunately sailed for the time being. The highly anticipated device went on sale Friday, September 5, as IFA 2014 officially opened its doors for eager attendees. Within a few short hours the device was sold out from virtually every retailer.

The company quickly released a Twitter statement that interested buyers can expect limited availability for “a while.” No exact date has been given for future supply availability, but users may still be able to purchase the device from retail locations.

“Other retailers, which should launch the Moto 360 in a few days, will still receive it as scheduled, but they won’t be offering it online,” GSMArena reports. Additionally, Motorola is allowing customers to sign up for notifications on the Moto 360 product page, and will alert those individuals when the next “limited” batch of Moto 360 smartwatches is available online

Attractive and Elusive

At $250, the unit is pricier than the Android Wear devices that preceded it, but the device still garnered much anticipation despite its loftier MSRP. It was the first smartwatch to adopt a more stylish and traditionally classy watch face, which was then a departure from the initial devices running the new OS. Since then, Samsung, LG, and Sony have all announced Android Wear devices that enjoy a more classic design.

Android Wear Update 4.4W.1

The Moto 360 and the Samsung Gear Live are among the first devices to receive the latest Android Wear update, version 4.4W.1 (build KGW42N), which is now available for download.

“The biggest change is to navigation, which also requires the latest version of Google Maps installed on your phone,” Android Police writes. This update will allow users to choose from multiple route options when being given a navigation command. Users can also set their preferred, default method of navigation, whether it be walking, driving, or biking.
