iPhone 6 Pre-Orders Are Live, iPhone 6 Plus Already Out of Stock

iPhone 6 pre-orders went live today, and despite the Apple server experiencing technical issues, the iPhone 6 Plus is already out of stock.

iPhone 6 pre-orders went live today, beginning the online clicking wars as potential customers descended upon the nation’s Apple stores, both online and brick and mortar. Both of Apples new darlings are up for pre-order, yet AppleInsider reports that some eager customers who successfully made it through the inconvenient server-side hurdles are now finding that the more sought-after phablet-style iPhone 6 Plus is currently out of stock.

Apple stores in the United States, United Kingdom, and many European and Asian companies are showing estimated delivery waits of three to four weeks. GSMArena reports on the iPhone 6 pre-orders, “Strangely enough—the company’s online store in the final country to get the phablet in the first wave, Hong Kong, is listing the iPhone 6 Plus as unavailable.”

Not all hope is dashed. The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 pre-orders remain in stock for the time being. GSMArena confirms that within the United States all storage size and color variants are available for pre-order. Furthermore, pre-order purchases are still on schedule to be delivered on September 19 in time for the official launch date within the United States.

International Availability

All launch territories are experiencing similar availability issues with their iPhone 6 pre-orders. The 64 GB versions of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 are out of stock in the United Kingdom and Germany, but fulfillment is still strong on both the 16 GB and 128 GB versions. GSMArena also observes that server-side fixes have gone through and the Apple Store online retail locations are processing orders without issue.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were officially announced during Apple’s event earlier this week. The company stunned many by launching a flagship device in a phablet-style form factor, a design style pioneered by their closest competitor at Samsung. However, based on its out-of-stock status, the iPhone 6 Plus is evidently a major success for Apple.
