5 Amazing Hidden Features of the Galaxy Note 4

Samsung’s newest phablet is full of high-end technology surprises. Here are five of the most interesting hidden features of the Galaxy Note 4.

Surprise! The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is packed to the brim with hidden features. There are 10 in total, as detailed on the official Samsung Electronics blog, but here are five of the most interesting hidden features of the Galaxy Note 4:

1. Sound Detector

This is one of the most amazing hidden features of the Galaxy Note 4. Sound for media and music has improved tremendously on smartphones over the years, making smartphones go-to devices for playing users’ favorite songs and movies. This is great, but it can cause the user to miss important sounds, like the doorbell or a crying baby. Now, the user can program Sound Detector to recognize relevant sounds and notify them through vibration or phone lights accordingly. Samsung explains, “For the doorbell sound, the user records and saves the doorbell beforehand, and the smartphone notifies the user when the relevant doorbell sound is heard.”

2. Voice Recorder with Meeting Mode

Meeting Mode can easily distinguish sound emitting from up to eight different directions, and it can indicate from which direction the voice is coming. Users can add labels or names to the eight different directions and even choose to hear select directions/speakers.

3. Direct Pen Input for S Planner

By using the S Pen input stylus that comes with the Note 4, users can handwrite a meeting into their calendar. Simply hold down or long-press a date in the Calendar app and write down the event’s time, description, and location for easy scheduling.

4. Selfies with HRM Sensor

Samsung knows the gorgeous 5.7-inch, 2560-by-1440-pixel Super AMOLED display can make reaching the onscreen shutter a bit difficult when taking selfies. To rectify this, the HRM sensor—which is placed on the back and in easy reach—can be used as an impromptu shutter once the camera has recognized the user’s face and is ready to capture an image.

5. Autofocus and Exposure Adjustments

Not unlike the iPhone, the Galaxy Note 4 is capable of performing automatic adjustments to focus specific portions in the image finder when the user long-presses on the shutter.

These hidden features of the Galaxy Note 4 add allure to the already impressive package Samsung has created. Have these tucked-away functions helped you decide on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4?
