Verizon HTC One M8 for Windows Available Now

HTC announced the HTC One M8 variant for Windows is available now from Verizon, offering users a great option to connect between desktop and mobile apps.

HTC announced that the HTC One M8 variant for Windows is available now from Verizon. After a two-year hiatus from Windows, the Taiwan-based device manufacturer returns to the platform by way of the Verizon-bound HTC One M8. “One of the worst-kept rumors in the Windows world is now confirmed to be true: HTC has brought its One M8 phone hardware to the Windows platform,” PCWorld notes.

Specifications

The One M8 for Windows is virtually identical to its Android sibling in both hardware and specs. The device’s display is a 5-inch Full HD Super LCD3 capable of 1920 by 1080 resolution. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.3Hz. It uses the Adreno 330 GPU for graphics processing and 2 GB of RAM. The rear-facing camera supports 1080p video recording with a 4-megapixel UltraPixel lens, and the front-facing clicker utilizes a 5-megapixel lens. The new HTC device also comes with the snazzy BlinkFeed user experience (UI), and speakers are finally coming to a worthy Windows device. GSMArena calls its Android sister version “…one of the best Android smartphones money can buy…”

Using Windows as a smartphone OS platform can be a fantastic way for Windows desktop users to stay connected across devices without worrying about compatibility between desktop programs and mobile apps. The Live Tile interface is highly intuitive and easy to use, especially for those using the same style UI on Windows 8 and above for desktop and laptop computing.

Up until now, Nokia has been one of the strongest supporters of the Windows phone platform, with a strong library of impressive handsets using the OS. Now HTC joins the fray with an impressive first offering in the One M8 from HTC.

Do you think the new HTC One M8 can compete again the Nokia Windows army?
